Broken Bow
US and Israel Strike Iran: What Every Preparedness-Minded Christian Needs to Know Right Now
“When you hear of wars and rumors of wars, do not be alarmed. Such things must happen, but the end is still to come.” — Mark 13:7 (NIV)
The Strike Has Begun
The moment many Bible prophecy students, geopolitical analysts, and preparedness-minded believers have watched for has arrived. Joint United States and Israeli military operations against Iran - including strikes on nuclear facilities, missile launch sites, and Revolutionary Guard (IRGC) infrastructure - have moved the Middle East from the edge of the precipice to a new and dangerous phase of open warfare.
This is not a drill. This is not a rumor. The sword has fallen, and what comes next will test the readiness of every Christian household in America — spiritually, physically, and practically.
At KnowTheTimes, our mission has always been to help you see current events through the lens of Scripture and to be prepared, not paralyzed. This article is both a prophetic overview and a practical call to action.
How We Got Here: A Brief Context
For years, Iran has marched steadily toward a nuclear threshold, funding proxy armies (Hamas, Hezbollah, the Houthis) and openly declaring its intent to erase Israel from the map. Israel, claiming to have been watching the clock on Iranian enrichment reach critical levels, and operating with American intelligence and logistical support, made the decision that diplomacy had reached its end.
The strikes represent a dramatic escalation with potentially world-altering consequences:
Iranian nuclear enrichment facilities have reportedly been targeted, potentially setting the program back years — or eliminating it entirely.
Ballistic missile stockpiles and launch infrastructure have been hit to suppress retaliatory capacity.
IRGC command nodes linked to proxy coordination across the region have been struck.
Iran has already signaled retaliation. The question is not if but how severe, how broad, and how fast.
Prophetic Threads: What Scripture May Be Telling Us
We are watchmen, not date-setters. But we are also called to discern the times (Luke 12:56), and it would be spiritually irresponsible to ignore the prophetic threads running through this moment.
1. Elam (Persia/Iran) in Bible Prophecy
The prophet Jeremiah spoke a striking word directly about Elam — the ancient heartland of modern Iran:
“I will shatter Elam before their foes, before those who want to kill them; I will bring disaster on them, even my fierce anger … I will set my throne in Elam and destroy her king and officials,” declares the LORD. ... (Jeremiah 49:35-38)
This passage speaks of the breaking of the bow of Elam — their primary military strength — and the scattering of its people. Many scholars see a dual fulfillment: one historical, one yet future. The destruction of Iran’s military infrastructure, particularly its missile arsenal (a modern “bow”), echoes this ancient word in ways that are difficult to dismiss.
Jeremiah also promises a restoration of Elam in the latter days (v. 39) — suggesting Iran’s ultimate story ends not in dominance, but in judgment and then redemption. The Gospel has been moving powerfully inside Iran for years; underground house churches are among the fastest-growing in the world. God is not finished with the Persian people.
2. The Psalm 83 / Isaiah 17 Cluster
Many prophecy scholars have long anticipated a near-term regional war involving Israel and its immediate neighbors — a conflict distinct from the larger Gog-Magog war of Ezekiel 38-39. The destruction of Damascus (Isaiah 17:1 — “Damascus will cease from being a city and will become a ruinous heap”) has been a passage on watchmen’s lips for over a decade, and Syria’s ongoing destabilization makes this increasingly plausible.
The current conflict could catalyze exactly the kind of regional collapse that sets that stage.
3. Ezekiel 38-39: The Gog-Magog War
This is the big one — and Iran (Persia) is explicitly named as a member of the Gog coalition (Ezekiel 38:5). For decades, prophecy watchers noted that Israel-Iran-Russia-Turkey alignment looked implausible. It no longer does.
However — and this is critical — many scholars believe the Gog-Magog war occurs after Israel is in a condition of relative peace and security (Ezekiel 38:11). If the current strikes weaken Iran significantly, it is possible we are watching the precursor reshaping of the Middle East that leads to:
A temporary Israeli security window
A peace framework (potentially connected to prophetic “covenant” language of Daniel 9:27)
Then the later, larger Gog coalition attack
We are not saying these things will happen on any specific timeline. We are saying the pattern is aligning in ways previous generations could not have imagined.
4. The “Wars and Rumors of Wars” Season
Jesus told His disciples in Matthew 24 that nation would rise against nation, kingdom against kingdom — and that this would be the beginning of birth pangs (v. 8). Birth pangs have a defining characteristic: they increase in frequency and intensity. What we are witnessing geopolitically is exactly this pattern accelerating. Each conflict — COVID, Ukraine, Gaza, now Iran — is not an isolated event. It is a contraction.
Preparedness Priorities: Practical Readiness for What’s Coming
Prophecy without preparation is spectating. God’s people are called to be wise stewards. Joseph stored grain for seven years before the famine came. Noah built the ark before a single drop of rain fell.
Here is what a Christian prepper should be addressing right now:
Energy & Grid Vulnerability
An Iranian retaliatory response — whether direct, through proxies, or via cyber warfare — could target US critical infrastructure. Iran has demonstrated sophisticated cyberattack capabilities targeting energy grids, financial systems, and water treatment facilities.
Action Steps:
If you don’t have a generator, get one. Prioritize propane or dual-fuel.
Consider a solar backup system with battery storage for longer-term outages.
Store fuel safely and legally — minimum 30-day supply.
Have a non-electric heating and cooking alternative.
Food & Water Security
Supply chains are fragile. A spike in oil prices (virtually guaranteed in this conflict) ripples into fertilizer costs, transportation, and food prices almost immediately.
Action Steps:
Aim for at least a two-week food supply but realistically, a 90-day food supply is what you should be looking at for a base — rice, beans, freeze-dried meals, canned goods.
Don’t neglect nutrition diversity; caloric density alone isn’t enough for sustained health.
Store one gallon of water per person per day, minimum two weeks. A quality filtration system (Berkey, LifeStraw, or similar) extends this dramatically.
Grow something. Even a small container garden produces food and skills. And let me tell you from experience, if you think you’re just going to throw some seeds in the ground when the times get hard (as if they aren’t already), you’re going to be well back on the learning curve.
Financial Preparedness
Regional Middle East wars historically spike oil prices and trigger stock market volatility. A wider conflict involving Iran’s Strait of Hormuz capacity (through which ~20% of global oil passes) could cause severe economic disruption.
Action Steps:
Hold some physical cash outside of the banking system. ATMs fail in power outages.
Consider modest physical precious metals (silver especially) as a hedge.
Reduce and eliminate consumer debt aggressively: financial flexibility is preparedness.
Diversify from pure dollar-denominated assets if you’re in a position to do so wisely.
Medical & Pharmaceutical Readiness
In an extended crisis, access to prescription medications and medical care can become restricted.
Action Steps:
Build a 90-day supply of any critical prescription medications (work with your doctor).
Invest in a quality first aid and trauma kit, and know how to use it (take a Stop the Bleed or wilderness first aid course). Personally, I recommend Refuge Medical for good, American made products.
Stock OTC medications: antibiotics alternatives (colloidal silver, essential oils), pain management, anti-diarrheal, electrolytes.
Build relationships with medical professionals in your community and church.
Communications & Information
Cyberattacks and EMP scenarios (Iran has studied electromagnetic pulse warfare) can knock out standard communications.
Action Steps:
Own a battery or hand-crank emergency AM/FM/NOAA weather radio.
Consider a HAM radio license; it is the most resilient communication network available to civilians.
Establish a family communications plan with designated meeting points and out-of-state contact.
Reduce dependence on a single platform for information. Diversify news sources.
Community & Tribe Building
The lone wolf prepper is a myth. In serious long-term scenarios, community is the most important resource you have. The early church survived Roman persecution through networks of mutual care.
Action Steps:
Know your neighbors. Seriously. Go knock on doors.
Build relationships in your local church/fellowship around preparedness topics — many churches are beginning to take this seriously.
Consider forming a small preparedness fellowship group — pooling resources, skills, and information.
Know who in your circle has medical, mechanical, agricultural, and security skills.
Spiritual Readiness: The Foundation Everything Else Rests On
A bunker full of food means nothing if your soul is not anchored.
1. Be Right With God
This sounds elementary, but it is the most neglected form of preparedness. If you are not walking in daily communion with Jesus Christ (through prayer, Scripture, and repentance) no amount of stored rice will prepare you for what is coming. The peace “which surpasses all understanding” (Philippians 4:7) is not a feeling. It is a Person.
2. Know Your Bible
The prepared Christian is a Scripturally literate Christian. You cannot discern what is happening prophetically if you do not know the Word. Commit to a reading plan. Study Daniel, Ezekiel, Matthew 24, Revelation, and the major and minor prophets with fresh eyes in this season. And, more realistically, start at the front of the book and work your way to the back of the book. Whole-Bible believers are prepared believers.
3. Pray Without Ceasing — Especially for Israel, Iran, and the Nations
We are called to pray for the peace of Jerusalem (Psalm 122:6). But also pray for Iran. There are millions of Iranians (many of them secret believers) who are caught in the crossfire of their government’s ideology. Pray for the underground church. Pray for breakthrough in the Islamic world. This conflict, as terrible as it is, has the potential to open doors for the Gospel as Iranians question everything they’ve been told.
4. Guard Against Fear
Fear is the enemy’s greatest weapon in this hour. The spirit of fear is not from God (2 Timothy 1:7). Preparedness is the antidote to fear, it is actionable faith. But even beyond physical preparedness, you must guard your mind against the 24/7 anxiety machine of modern media. Set limits. Pray before you scroll.
5. Hold Things Loosely
The prepared Christian is also the surrendered Christian. We prepare because we are wise stewards, but we hold our preps, our homes, our plans, and our lives with an open hand before God. He is sovereign over every geopolitical development — including this one.
“He changes times and seasons; He removes kings and sets up kings.” (Daniel 2:21)
What to Watch For in the Coming Days and Weeks
As events develop, here are the key indicators a watchful Christian should monitor:
Iranian retaliation vectors: Hezbollah from Lebanon, Houthi escalation in the Red Sea, cyber attacks on US infrastructure, or direct strikes on US bases in the region.
Oil markets and the Strait of Hormuz: Any Iranian move to block or threaten this chokepoint will trigger a global economic shockwave.
Russia and China’s response: Both nations have strategic relationships with Iran. Watch for diplomatic or material support that could widen the conflict.
United Nations and diplomatic maneuvering: Watch for any proposed “peace frameworks” or ceasefires that involve Israeli territorial or security concessions. These could be prophetically significant.
Domestic unrest in the US: High-profile conflict abroad often correlates with domestic instability. Pay attention to your local environment.
The Israeli home front: Civilian preparedness in Israel, Iron Dome activation, and northern border activity with Hezbollah.
A Final Word: This Is Not the Time to Panic, It Is the Time to Prepare
Brothers and sisters, we have been given one of the greatest gifts a watchman can receive: warning in advance. The prophets wrote it. Jesus announced it. The signs have been gathering for decades. And now, in real time, the pieces are moving.
Do not be the servant who buried his talent in the ground out of fear (Matthew 25:25). Be the wise virgins who had oil in their lamps when the hour came (Matthew 25:4).
Prepare your household. Deepen your walk with God. Build your community. Watch the horizon. And hold fast to this:
“When these things begin to take place, stand up and lift up your heads, because your redemption is drawing near.” — Luke 21:28
The King is coming. Until then — know the times. Be ready.

Thank you AB for your continued coverage, and for highlighting the needs kf our brothers and sisters of the body of Christ in Iran.
Let us pray for all of them, and for the civilians of Iran and ask to provide for them and protect them.
